I was really touched by this story. Seeing that massive smile and his determination to do things on his own was very inspiring. I want to thank Tom Downing for sharing this with me via Facebook.
this was my first cubs game and figured what a better team to see them play then the good ol coloado rockies. me and my roomates showed up to pick up some last min tickets and lucky enough a lady was selling 4 tickets behind home plate for 8 bucks each. after some beers and brats and alot of cheering and boos from chicago fans rockies ended the game with of course another win!!!!
I recently just returned from an absolutely amazing trip to Indio, California for Coachella. On our drive back home, me and Sam made a quick pit stop in Las Vegas to wind down from all the fun we had the previous 4 days. We pull up to one of my favorite summer WSOP fast food chains, “Tropical Smoothie” and to my surprise I see Baron Davis ordering some smoothies in front of me.
I didn’t want to be a giant fanboy and bother him too much, so to acknowledge his awesome beard and let him know I was a fan, all I did was go for a quick pound with no words exchanged. Baron proceeds to give me a pound, but what happens next is why I bring this story to all the readers here at KeepBraggin.com.
So now we are sitting at the register right behind Baron’s group and Sam has the most confused look on her face. Sam was not aware that this bearded giant with great big basketball feet was actually a professional basketball player in the NBA. Baron realized how weirded out my girlfriend was by this random fist pound with not a single word spoken, turns to her and says, “Yeah, we used to go to highschool together.”
Sam looks over to me and says, “I’m confused, who is this?” I decide to play along with the joke and since he looks like a basketball player and tell her how I used to be the ball-boy for him back in the day. At this point I’m giggling like a school girl on the insides because me and Baron Davis are now playing a joke on my gf, and she still has no clue just who it is we are talking to.
After we placed our order I told her who he was and she seems pleasantly surprised with the exchange the 2 of us just had with a baller NBA player. He ends up getting his food and smoothies and as he was walking out the door to leave he turns to me and says, “Well it was good seeing you, make sure to tell everyone I said what’s up!”
This is exactly the reason I’m sharing this story. I just wanted to show how awesome of a person Baron Davis truly is. He was super chill, funny and I will always remember this brag worthy exchange I had with him in Vegas.
Baron Davis is on twitter @baron_davis. He’s a good follow, especially if you have a beard and you want to make his facebook beard hall of fame.
